Senior High Envirothon: May 3, 2012

The Lancaster County Senior High Envirothon encourages students grades 9-12 to take the natural challenge.  The challenge asked high school students to work in teams of five to demonstrate their knowledge of natural resources and environmental sciences.  Study materials are provided to prepare students for five stations about wildlife, soils, aquatics, forestry, and a current issue. 

The county champions go on to the PA Envirothon.  The PA state winners will represent the state at the international Canon Envirothon.

Junior Envirothon: May 1-2, 2012

The Lancaster County Junior Envirothon is an environmental knowledge challenge designed for students in grades 3, 4, 5, and 6.  Students compete in grade level teams of 5 students to demonstrate their understanding of four learning topics including trees, mammals, birds, and an ecology focus group.  The Junior Envirothon takes place over two spring days in May with two grades competing per day.  Registration is complete in the fall prior to the event.  The Jr Envirothon program is meant to enhance and reinforce the state Science and Technology Environment and Ecology standards.
